What size will you need? It depends on what you plan to power. If you need to use a 60 watt light for one hour then you need a 60 watt solar panel to receive full sunlight for at least one hour each day or a 20 watt solar panel for 3 hours. There are practical considerations like cloudy skies and the angle of the sun. The solar panel should be connected to a 12V deep cycle battery large enough to hold 3 days power needs. The solar kits have solar regulators to prevent overcharging the battery. You can connect a solar panel directly to your device but then the voltage is not regulated and may damage some 12 volt appliances.
